The Role of Renewable Energy in the Sustainable Development of Countries: A Case Study of Germany

Abstract
The limited fossil energy resources and the problems caused by greenhouse gas emissions have made it clear to everyone the need to pay more attention to renewable energies. Sustainable development is a concept that has emerged due to the negative environmental and social consequences resulting from the one-sided economic development approaches after the industrial revolution and the change in human attitudes towards the concept of growth and progress. The aim of this research is to understand the role of renewable energies in the sustainable development of countries, a case study of Germany, which deals with this issue with a descriptive-analytical method by examining existing sources and texts, using the concept of sustainable development, and seeks to answer the question: What is the role of renewable energies in the sustainable development of Germany? The research findings show that Germany, with careful and scientific planning, has been able to significantly increase the share of renewable resources in its country's energy production in the past two decades. In such a way that it successfully replaces fossil energies with clean energies and is successful in meeting the needs of today without harming the needs of future generations. This country has been able to use energy resources properly, direct investments in the right direction, and take fundamental steps in technological development in the field of utilizing new and renewable energies to meet current and future needs and strengthen sustainable development infrastructure.
